Quick EnquiryEsomeprazole, Itopride SR, is a medicinal capsule that has been manufactured to provide people with complete relief from symptoms associated with a wide range of gastrointestinal disorders related to acid production and to digestive motility (the movement of food through the digestive tract). This capsule contains Esomeprazole (40 mg) and Itopride (150 mg) using an extended-release formula. By using both of these medicines together, they work in two different but complementary ways to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), inflammation of the lining of the stomach (Gastritis), ulcers, and other gastrointestinal conditions: by reducing excessive stomach acid levels and restoring stomach motility.
Esomeprazole (40 mg) - Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that is used to reduce the amount of acid that is produced in the stomach. It works by blocking the proton pumps in the lining of the stomach, which decreases the amount of acid that is produced. This reduction in acid allows for healing of the damage that has been done to the lining of the stomach, which can occur as a result of high levels of acid in the stomach, as well as to relieve symptoms associated with acid, heartburn, ulcer pain, and reflux.
Itopride (150 mg sustained release) - Itopride is a prokinetic (gastro-motility) agent that stimulates the movement of food through the gastrointestinal tract. Itopride promotes peristalsis in the stomach and intestines, which speeds up the emptying of food from the stomach and improves the coordination of the movement of food through the digestive system. Additionally, Itopride has antiemetic effects that help to reduce nausea and excessive feelings of fullness.
This combination of medication, Esomeprazole and Itopride SR, combats two sources of disorders affecting the upper gastrointestinal tract: excessive production of stomach acid and impairment of gastric motility.
This combination is approved for use in a variety of gastrointestinal diseases associated with excessively high levels of stomach acid (GERDACID REFLUX), peptic ulcers (both gastric and duodenal), gastritis or chronic inflammation or irritation of stomach, dyspepsia, indigestion, flatulence or bloating and delayed gastric emptying and motility disorders, recurrence of symptoms related to excess gastric acid, and continued damage from excess gastric acid on the upper GI tract and continued to cause discomfort of gastric acid.
Typically, this medication should be taken before a meal (30-60 minutes). Esomeprazole suppresses the secretion of gastric acid that is secreted during meals (e.g., to prepare for food intake), and at the same time, Itopride will improve the ability of the stomach to break down the food you will consume after taking Esomeprazole.
The capsule is taken with a full glass of water and must be swallowed whole. It is very important that the capsule not be chewed, crushed, or broken open since the enteric coating and sustained release must be properly managed to maintain the drug release and effectiveness.
Take as your physician prescribes for the dosage and duration of treatment. Duration of treatment can vary based on multiple factors such as severity of disease, patients' response to therapy, and the goal of therapy (e.g., short-term symptom relief vs. ulcer healing/maintenance therapy).
Dual Mechanism of Action to relieve symptoms — This product's dual mechanisms of action, such as Acid suppression and improved gastric motility, will relieve both the underlying physiological causes of GIT discomfort by creating a mechanism for symptom relief.
Pronounced relief of discomfort caused by a combination of both acid and slow digestion (causing bloating, fullness, nausea, and gas). The capsule can provide a combination of both types of relief; the relief for both types of symptoms will be more balanced than if only one type of medication had been used.
Better patient response — Compared to taking only a PPI (acid-suppressing-only) therapy, patients taking this combination (like, PPIs in conjunction with Itopride, the combination of a PPI and prokinetic agent) allow patients who do not respond adequately to only taking a PPI, receive better relief of symptoms.
Dosing convenience — Once-daily, before-meal dosage could make it very convenient for long-term management or chronic acid-related conditions.
Esomeprazole and Itopride SR combine the best elements of both a proton pump inhibitor (Esomeprazole) and a prokinetic agent (Itopride) to address the dual issues of acid overproduction and impaired digestive motility found in patients with acid reflux, heartburn, and dyspepsia or discomfort after eating. The combination of these two proven agents makes the Esomeprazole-Itopride SR capsule an ideal choice for those seeking a comprehensive solution to their chronic acid problems and/or ulcer healing, especially for those patients who have not had success with simpler therapies.
